Deepening the words…

LEVELS OF PARTICIPATION: THE SCALE R. HART
Addressing these issues will also need to deal with the scientific computing at the international level is increasinglyBuzzing consistent: in this regard is p noted that the White Paper on youth product a few days ago by the European Union after a period of approximately two years of consulting young people of all countries have the issue of participation in the first place in the scale of prioritiesto.
One of the more reflections
Buzzing Interesting participation is that of Roger Hart, American architect and psychologist, who has experienced modeto participation in which children were involved in planning actions, checking the degree of participation / non-participation, depending on the way in which adults could involve. From the observation that there are different modesto in which children and young people are involved in participatory processes is did the idea of a ladder of participation.

The first part of the scale contains all the situations in which children are "used" by adults;
in the second, instead, is possible to trace all those processes in which the child and the boy are involved from simple consultation and information to the design of concrete actions prepared by the boys without any intervention of the adult.

  1. Manipulation: children participate in a contest for designs without knowing the criteria of the judges.
  2. Decoration: Children sing and dance with t-shirts illustrative of a cause without knowing what is happening and have no right to speak in organizing the event.
  3. Participation facade and symbolic: children are used in the lectures without explaining the basis on which is upon selection among classmates.
  4. Invested with a role and informed: children and young people are informed about the intentions of the project and are committed willfully after we have known and understood.
  5. Consulted and informed: children become consultants in projects developed and managed by adults.
  6. Sharing operational: projects are initiated by adults, decisions are made with the sharing of children.
  7. Design their own by children / teenagers: projects are designed and made by children when they play freely.
  8. Projects designed and managed by young people in which they are involved adults: boys define the project's objectives and operational decisions are taken and implemented with adults.
